AS AN AMERICAN AMBASSADOR IS KILLED DURING AN ATTACK AT A U.S. COMPOUND IN LIBYA, A SECURITY TEAM STRUGGLES TO MAKE SENSE OUT OF THE CHAOS

This is perhaps the best film on the American soldier since Black Hawk Down. Yes, American Sniper and Lone Survivor are great films, but Bay does have a great eye and visual style, regardless of you may think of the Transformers movies' overblown stories. Like all the best war films, this focuses on the soldiers (technically ex-soldiers in this case, now working for the CIA), and what they go through. Not just another Bay action film, very intense in content and emotion. John Krasinski, a long way from The Office, is going to surprise people here.

Bottom line is this: People have been talking about Benghazi for the past years, yet few still seem to know what exactly happened there. This movie fills in that blank and reminds us, while we sleep in our safe little world, our soldiers selflessly hold the line around the globe.

A Good Day To Die Hard

Details

In Moscow, Viktor Chagarin (Sergei Kolesnikov), a high-ranking but corrupt Russian official, plans on incriminating political prisoner and government whistleblower Yuri Komarov (Sebastian Koch) without a fair trial when Komarov refuses to hand over a secret file believed to have convicting evidence against Chagarin.

In a separate incident, Jack McClane (Jai Courtney) is arrested as a result of an assassination, but agrees to testify against Komarov for a shorter sentence.

John McClane (Bruce Willis), who has not been in touch with his son in years, learns of Jack's whereabouts and circumstances and decides to go to Russia to help him out. When John arrives and approaches the courthouse that happens to currently hold Jack and Komarov on trial, an explosion orchestrated by Chagarin and his henchmen occurs in the courthouse, and Jack breaks free with Komarov. Seeing his son, John confronts him, but their dispute is cut short when the henchmen, led by Alik (Radivoje Bukvi), chase them on the streets of Moscow, but John, Jack, and Komarov manage to escape. Hiding in a safe house, John finds out that Jack has been a CIA Officer in an undercover operation for the past three years. Meanwhile, Collins (Cole Hauser), Jack's partner, demands the file's location from Komarov, so that the CIA can bring Chagarin down, but Collins is soon shot by Chagarin's men and dies, as John, Jack, and Komarov survive subsequent heavy gunfire and escape once again. The trio then makes their way to a hotel in the city to find the key to a vault containing the file. There, they meet Komarov's daughter, Irina (Yuliya Snigir), whom they earlier planned on joining with, but John grows suspicious of Irina. His suspicions are proven correct when Alik and his men crash in and tie John and Jack up, while Komarov is taken as a hostage, and Irina confesses to snitching on them for the "millions of dollars" to be gained. However, Jack manages to break free of his ties, and the father-son duo fights back, culminating in a gunfire exchange that results in John and Jack's escape.

That night, the two steal a car full of firearms and drive to Chernobyl, Ukraine, which is the location of the vault that houses the file, as revealed earlier by Komarov at the safe house. When they arrive, they find that Komarov, Irina, and Alik have already gotten there, but what they don't know is that on their way there, it was revealed that there was never a file in existence, and that the vault actually contains billions of dollars worth of weapons-grade uranium. Alik is then shot in the head by the seemingly helpless Komarov, who later called Chagarin and told him that he and Irina had manipulated the entire sequence of events since the beginning in an attempt to obtain the uranium and get revenge on Chagarin for his past betrayal of Komarov. Chagarin was then killed by a subordinate of Komarov's. At this point, John and Jack enter the vault, discover Komarov's true plot, and take him under arrest. Irina, with another henchman, comes to her father's aid, but before they can escape, Jack goes after Komarov, while John goes after Irina, who is escaping on a helicopter. Irina tries to protect her father by firing the helicopter's cannons at Jack, but John is able to bring the helicopter out of balance by driving a truck in the hangar section of the helicopter, still shackled by a rope, out of the open back door, muttering his catchphrase of "Yippee ki-yay, motherfucker." In rage, Jack hurls Komarov off the rooftop, and Komarov falls into the spinning helicopter's rotors and is killed. John jumps off the helicopter and reunites with Jack inside the building. Wanting to avenge her father, Irina rams the helicopter into the building, destroying the building and killing herself in the process, but John and Jack survive by leaping off the building into a large pool of water. Afterwards, John and Jack return to New York. At the airport, they meet Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), John's oldest child and Jack's sister, and the reunited family happily walks off together.

A Good Marriage (Stephen King)

Details

Great film! True to form, Stephen King is a great story teller. The tale unfolds slowly. This film is not for those who want car crashes and machine gun killings. When the wife discovers the secrets, her reaction suggests fear, but of what? And the seeming flashbacks - are they flashbacks or dreams, or both? A story of people living lies. Image is everything.

In the end it all comes together, as a good story does. The quality of acting is fantastic as well. I'm always amazed by Joan Allen. I did not even recognize her. The roles she plays are so varied. Amazing!

A Walk Among The Tombstones (Liam Neeson)

Details

A walk among the Tombstones movie is a thriller that has been written and directed by Scott Frank. The lead actors of this movie are Dan Stevens, Liam Nesson, Boyd Holbrook and David Harbor. The story of this movie revolves around Matthew Scudder who is a private investigator. He has been hired by drug kingpin to find out about the truth of kidnapping and murder of the drug kingpin wide death. This movie is based on the bestselling series of the mystery novels by Lawrence Block. A walk among the Tombstones movie is a must watch for people who loves thriller and I really enjoyed watching this movie myself as there are many interesting twists and turns to the movie.

The lead actor of the movie played by Liam Nesson is known as Matthew Scudder is an ex NYPD cop. He works as an unlicensed private investigator that operates outside law. When he agrees reluctantly to help one heroin trafficker played by Dan Stevens he was assigned the task of finding the culprit who has committed the crime. But when he was finding the men who have kidnapped and then brutally murdered the wife of the heroin trafficker, he came to know the whole truth about their twisted crime. The cause of his wife death is because the heroin trafficker haggles with the price of ransom and the lead actors has been given the task of solving the mystery. He also came to about the fact that these men will carry on committing these kinds of crimes. He wanted to make the lines between right and wrong more blur and thus he strived harder to catch the culprits through backstreets of New York before their repeat their crimes and go on a killing spree again.

A walk among the Tombstones movie has been filmed on the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn which has many visuals that will surely entice you. The private investigator takes the help of his friend Scudder who is an ex cop, drug lords, streetwise punk and two computer geniuses.

All of these men together were successful in tracking down the killers through the streets of New York. Though A walk among the Tombstones movie has been based on the novel by Lawrence Block by the same name, you will really love the movie as mystery and thrill unfolds every moment. The surprise element of the movie is the search for the criminals through the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn where the private investigator goes in search of the psychotics. If you are interested in watching the movie in HD then you will need to get the access to the site so that you can enjoy watching the movie in High definition. The actor Liam Nesson did a condemnable job as he has re branded himself as a superstar with great acting skills. This movie has gained a higher level than many other films in the thriller genre and every part of the movie adds more character and substances to the whole story line and plot of the movie.

A Year In Provence complete series with John Thaw

Details

A Year in Provence is a thoroughly enjoyable, witty, humorous series starring the late John Thaw (Inspector Morse, Kavanagh QC), who sadly died of throat cancer in 2002. The series is based on the real-life experiences of Peter Mayle and his wife who left their jobs and lives in England to move to the south of France. Mayle's intention was to settle in this idyllic corner of paradise to write a novel; what resulted was a memoir which served as the basis for this splendid series.

Beginning in winter, the series covers the Mayles' first year in Provence and dramatises the many trials and tribulations they faced in adjusting to the local customs and peculiarities (like goat racing and truffle hunting) and to their new environment. There were the gale-force winter winds ("les Mistrals") to contend with; added to that, the lovely, rustic old farmhouse they bought came complete (alas) with inadequate insulation, frozen water pipes, and no central heating! While the laid-back, lazy lifestyle may have been an attraction when the Mayles were in England, they soon learn it has its drawbacks when it comes to getting anything done--like the much-needed repairs and renovations by the builders! Then there's the joy of entertaining visitors from back home, the pleasure of which is somewhat dimmed when they find they've inadvertently overlapped the visits of three couples. The series has been presented in a boxed set of four 90-minute episodes--one for each season from Winter through Autumn. Each episode is broken down into three 30-minute parts--one for each month of the season. Though we chose to watch the series in its 90-minute blocks, one could easily watch it in half-hour blocks if one preferred.

In conclusion, I highly, highly recommend this delightful series to anyone who enjoys British entertainment in general.

A Year With The Bomb Girls Facing The Enemy (2014)

Details

Although the TV series was cancelled this is a new 2 hour movie 2014. "Bomb Girls” has extended one of the most entertaining stealth dramas on television into an engaging two-hour movie. The Bomb Girls are workers at a Canadian munitions plant during World War II. They’re a diverse group whose stories work equally well as soap opera or as exploration of the deeper crises that surface on the home front during wartime. “Facing the Enemy” pokes into the delicate matter of sabotage, at a time when German U-Boats are sinking an unsustainable number of Allied supply ships. Gladys Witham (Jodi Balfour), a woman of privilege who has had to fight for acceptance in the blue-collar world of Victory Munitions, is sent on an undercover mission to find who is sabotaging the sonar detection system. Issues of loyalty and ancestry immediately surface, while Gladys also tries to engineer the return of her best friend Betty (Ali Liebert), who has been the victim of some shady justice herself.

Agatha Christie's Thirteen At Dinner

Details

Lady Edgeware (played by Faye Dunaway) is estranged from her husband and wants a divorce. If she can't have a divorce, she says she'll just have to kill him. Shortly after making this pronouncement, Lord Edgeware is murdered. Lord Edgeware's servants testify that Lady Edgeware drove up to the home in a cab, walked into Lord Edgeware's study, and left after a brief period of time in the study. Shortly afterward, the servants find Lord Edgeware dead in his study. This is as true-to-life a murder scenario as ever came from the pen of Agatha Christie. In 27 years of prosecuting and defending murder cases, I've had several that followed this plotline. But Christie isn't going to allow things to be that simple. It seems that twelve unimpeachable witnesses are all prepared to testify that Lady Edgeware was with them at a formal dinner at exactly the time of the murder. Poirot finally unravels the mystery, and in the denouement proves quite satisfying.

Agatha Christie: The Case of the Discontented Soldier

Details

With the holy intervention of Mr.Parker Pyne, a retired major finds love and adventure helping a young lady to find a very precious African treasure. Major Charles Wilbraham calls at Parker Pyne’s office. He has recently returned after many years in the service of the Empire in East Africa and is retired. As Pyne instantly concludes, he is bored stiff living in an English village after a lifetime of excitement and adventure. Pyne charges him fifty pounds and instructs him to take Madeleine de Sara to lunch. She returns a few hours later unsuccessful: she has frightened the Major off, as he thinks her something of a vamp; his tastes run to fair-haired, blue-eyed women. Pyne consults a list and decides that Freda Clegg will be suitable... The next day Wilbraham receives note from Pyne instructing him to go to an address in Friar’s Lane, Hampstead and call at a house named "Eaglemont." In Friar’s Lane, Wilbraham hears cries for help and going into an empty house sees a young blond-haired, blue-eyed woman being attacked by two black men. He fights them off and takes the young lady for a coffee to help her get over her attack. She tells her story: her name is Freda Clegg and she is an orphan. The previous week she received a visit from an Australian lawyer who told her she might come into a legacy from business transacted by her late father but that it was dependent upon her having some papers of his. She handed him all of the papers she has, having no idea what the matter could be about and then received a letter from him asking her to call on him at his house, "Whitefriars" in Friar’s Lane – the empty house, and it was there she was attacked and Wilbraham saved her. The Major’s theory is that there is something in her father’s papers that the man posing as a lawyer wants desperately. Freda remembers that she thought her room had been searched when she was out and that this attack was possibly to take such papers by force from Freda if she had them on her person, or to force her to tell where they are.

All For Love BBC

Details

Starring Miranda Richardson (Blackadder), Anna Friel (Our Mutual Friend), Richard E Grant (Bright Young Things), Tim Dutton (The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries). Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stephenson, St. Ives. Filmed on location in Ireland and Germany. Originally broadcast on BBC One in 1999 and repeated in 2004.

For fans of the original Robert Louis Stevenson novel, St Ives, you might want to give this a miss - but if you enjoy action, comedy, romance and heaving bosoms - this is the film for you.

Made by the BBC and starring Jean Marc Barr as Capitaine Jacques St Ives, Richard E Grant as Major Farquar Chevening and Miranda Richardson and Anna Friel as the aunt and niece Miss Gilchrists, All For Love tells the story of a French Captain who finds himself in a Scottish prison at the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Drawn to prison visitor Flora (Anna Friel) he makes a gift of a carved box to her, which contains his family crest. Flora knows this crest and decides to seek out Jacques Grandfather who lives nearby with Jacques rake of a brother, Alain.

Meanwhile, repressed Major Chevening has hopes of romance with Flora and asks Jacques for advice in the art of love. "If you want to please a woman, use your tongue" says Jacques, veteran of many duels, and once the Major understands that women like to hear compliments, he is soon on his way to begin his courtship.

The dvd has enough double meanings for it to be given a 15 rating, but really, these remarks and actions will have the adults sniggering, but will go over the head of most children. The scene where the stuffy Major is bound and gagged to the raunchy Susan Gilchrist, who declares that she will "wriggle free in the manner of a Cobra" is laugh out loud funny - as is the Major's decision to sing hymns to take his mind off the female body bound - and squirming - next to his!

This is a well-made, beautifully filmed comedy drama with stunning sets and well-paced action. I am sure the basic story of St Ives is here - it is just padded out with some visual and verbal comedy as well as the expected action of a RLS story.

Get hold of a copy and settle down for some swash buckling laughs and all round heroic deeds. And bosoms...
